Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Charlie. I am now 2 years old, and I have the energy of a pup! My foster Mom said that I am a "special needs" dog. That is because I had Parvo when I was only 8 weeks old and suffered from a very high fever. Although I did recover from this awful disease, this fever resulted in some brain damage, so I now have some neurological problems which sometimes cause me to have seizures. On top of that, I had to have surgery on my leg (I can run and play like a champ now) and my eyes were very badly affected. In fact I have had corneal transplants in both of my eyes. My medicine runs about $100 a month for the ‘phenobarbital’ and ointments to keep my new eyes healthy. Since I have had the transplants done I can see better and do not become startled as easily as I used to.
Since my surgeries my trainer Crystal took me under her wing and I lived with her for some time. I learned good manners while at her home and became what she referred to as rehabilitated and adoptable. The BEST part of being “rehabilitated” is that I have been adopted and am living with my “forever mom” and my older 4 legged brother, Ralph. He is the best, and we get along great. He likes to play almost as much as I do. We race around the house like crazy dogs and we are both so happy when Mom comes home. It is GREAT being adopted and finding my forever home.
Although I have been adopted my mom could use help in paying for my expensive monthly medications. Please consider becoming my angel to make sure I can continue to be a happy and healthy boy. If you can help me, call the basset folks at 602-225-7800. Thanks.
