My name is Dodger!
Facts about Dodger
- Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
- Color: Gray/Blue/Silver/Salt & Pepper
- Age: Adult
- Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
- Sex: Male
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Dodger has been with me since June 25th. He is obedient, housebroken, likes to play with other dogs but does play rough so I would recommend a home with dogs closer to his size and is even good with cats. I feel very safe with him around my cat.
He would LOVE a family with children over 12 and maybe another female dog to cuddle with. He does get a little excited when meeting other dogs but will behave if told so he needs to have his playfulness checked a bit upon introduction but I have not seen any signs of aggression toward other dogs, only playfulness. Once he knows another dog, there are no issues.
Dodger LOVES to play in the water and would love a shallow pool or even sprinklers to play in. He knows how to play fetch and will bring it back to you with some coaxing ;-). He has also learned how to use a doggy door. He's a very smart dog and let's me know he wants to go outside by nudging the leashes hanging by the door!
He is very well behaved inside the house and know his boundaries as long as you show him. He LOVES to run and play outside and also loves going on walks and for rides in the car. He is a strong dog of about 63 lbs with medium energy so I would recommend a home with someone who has large dog and/or pitbull experience.
Dodger has clearly had some training as he knows commands such as “sit”, "wait", "leave it", and also performs exceptionally well at down-stays. He will patiently wait to begin eating his food until given the OK to do so.
He is a very intelligent dog & I believe he can adapt to pretty much any situation with the proper introduction and leadership and I believe with the right training, he would make a great therapy dog.
Please email me if you'd like to see a couple videos.
