My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Note, this pair is bonded*

Baby Girl and Bear Bear's story is a pretty usual rescue story and a sad scenario. Their owner passed away and they were left homeless with little chance of getting adopted due to their age. However, these two are a cute, old married couple who are still very much in love and take good care of each other. These are their original names and they will respond to them when called :)

Baby Girl is 11 years old who is a black lab mix. She is slightly overweight but is a great companion who loves to go out, is friendly, sweet, enjoys car rides and likes chilling outside and sun herself when it's nice out. She was loved so much by her owner. She spends a good part of her day listening to NPR.

Bear-bear her short yet protective (not in a bad way) husband is a sheltie mix, is 14 years old and LOVES his Baby Girl! They often squeeze into one bed even though they have matching 'bedroom furniture' doggie beds (think Dick Van Dyke side-by-side twin beds). He's cute and alert and will bark at strangers to inform everyone as he runs to protect her although he's a third of her size. It's the confidence that matters to us women!

Both dogs are low energy, calm, like snacks, and quiet sunset walks preferably on the beach if it's close to you. They aren't into toys (been there, done that) but do still enjoy chew sticks for a quiet afternoon. They are not fans of the rain and do not like going out if it is raining (or even heavy sprinkling) but will use potty pads for toileting if need be.

They are friendly with people and their personalities are starting to shine through! When they first arrived to us they seemed lost and confused (rightfully so) but now they are excited at events, take treats and come up to meet people. They will greet dogs nicely, have good manners but aren't that interested in new friends. They have each other!

If you have a soft spot for older dogs and are open to fostering or adopting this pair, please email adopt@rocketdogrescue.org and a volunteer will contact you shortly. They are bonded and must go together.

Adopting a rescued animal is a lifetime commitment! Adopters must complete a questionnaire, personal interview and home visit prior to adopting a Rocket Dog. There is a non-refundable $240.00 adoption fee which helps us defer the cost of spay/neutering, vaccinations and microchipping, food and medication (Rocket Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization and this fee enables us to continue rescuing and helping animals).
