Maya's Story...
Maya (female)

Hi my name is Maya and I am a 4 or 5 year old female beagle-mix that was found lost on Barksdale AFB in May. The family that I'm currently living with took me in because they didn't want to see me go to animal control but they already have too many animals and feel I would also like a home with a backyard. I am house-trained, up to date on my vaccines and got a clean bill of health from the vet. I am great with kids and other animals. I am quiet, calm, loving, and super sweet! I also come with everything you would need to make me feel at home including my dog dishes, dog food, dog bed, collar, leash, shampoo, nail clippers, grooming mitt, de-shedding brush, travel water dish, and vaccine record. I will make a truly wonderful pet for you! If interested please contact Christina at or 805-868-9281. Thank you! There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to Pet Savers of $30 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home. Once you adopt me, PLEASE get me spayed/neutered to help control the HUGE overpopulation and euthanasia rate in this area. Robinson’s Rescue low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (Shreveport) offers special low-cost pricing for spaying and neutering. Call 318-861-0101 for your spay/neuter appointment ONLY, not about me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maya, a Haughton Beagle dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Beagle dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle breeders who help with Beagle rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
