Help! Kaylee needs a Rescue or an experienced owner!!
She was surrendered originally to Haven Humane in Redding; then adopted in January 2011 and returned last week for dog-agressiveness. Central Ca Lab Rescue is full to the brim, and I am afraid Kaylee will not make it much longer. She needs a commitment by Tuesday morning, July 5th. Because of the reason she was returned, she is very high on the euth-list.
***Kaylee's recent temperament test at Haven describes her as: 5.5 years old, spayed, attentive, friendly, comes when encouraged, seeks petting, calms readily, teeth easy to handle, neutral re: back and front feet handling, rarely barks, pulls mild on a leash, quiet and calm in cage, neutral/Good with children (proper intro required), never a mess (I think she's housebroken), dislikes other dogs (proper intro required), prior training: down, shake, sit.
If not for being told her history and reviewing her temperament test, I would not have expected Kaylee to be dog aggressive. She and I walked Haven's cages three times and she didn't once flinch or show any interest in any of the dogs (except for an occasional sniff). She was very playful and happy and affectionate and joyful with me. She knows how to sit, but liked to scoot forward hoping that will make me even happier (it did!). When she's wasn't sure what I wanted, she would lay down. At first, she was thrilled to see the ball and to go after it, but she didn't return with it and instead pranced around very pleased with herself. She has an idea about what to do when she's asked to 'come' but takes her time.
Kaylee is a wonderful girl, and her temperament test suggests she is a terrific family dog She needs an attentive dog-savvy owner, and would be that person's best friend.
