My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update: 6/23/2013 - Chessie is doing great in her foster home. She is a wonderful dog. She is playful, loving, and well behaved. She will still need a very patient adopter, because she does not warm up to strangers quickly. If you have a big heart, this wonderful dog will fill it with lots of love and kisses, if you give her the time.

Meet our Chessie Belle. She has been in our rescue since June 2011. This girl is very shy. She weighs 9 pounds. She is fawn colored and about 3 1/2 years old.
Her history as we know it: she belonged to a terminally ill woman who lived alone in the country. The dogs were only used to her. Hospice asked us to take the dogs since they were afraid the dogs might pull her feeding tube out, accidentally. We took 4 dogs, but this little girl was the only fearful one. She has never been around children, and seems very fearful of men.
Since she had made no progress, she was moved into a new foster home in January 2013. She always stayed just out of reach, and wouldn't let anyone pick her up, but her new foster mom is working with her to socialize her and build confidence, and she is coming along wonderfully. She will still need an experienced and patient adopter who would like to help her experience the world, and learn that it is not so frightening.
Our adoption fee is $150.00, but is negotiable to the right family. She loves to go outside so we will require securely fenced yard.
