AFTER WE HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE WE WILL COMMUNICATE SPECIFICS ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR DOG. WE ARE A SMALL RESCUE, OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBER OF DOGS WE HAVE IN OUR FOSTER PROGRAM AND ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER OR CALL UNTIL WE HAVE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.
Mariposa is a 3 year old emergency owner surrender. Posey's family lost their home and had to move in with family. The only problem was, they wouldn't allow Mariposa to live in the air conditioned house. The owners feared she would die from heatstroke in the 90 degree temperatures and surrndered her to GEBR. English Bulldogs are at risk of developing heatstroke in temperatures higher than 72 degrees. They are INSIDE dogs!
When she arrived into rescue, we were amazed that she survived the three days she spent outside in temperatures greater than 95 degrees, her breathing was labored. After cooling her down and allowing her to get used to her foster home, she went to Dr. Rush for Palate surgery. Within 5 days of rescue, she was breathing much better.
Mariposa is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on shots. She gets along well with other dogs. We are unsure of children as neither her previous owners or present foster home have children but she is sooo sweet we can't imagine there would be a problem with kids. She is a petite little girl with very bowed hind legs, making her even more endearing.
