My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Briana was delivered to a Central California shelter as a stray. The rescue coordinator had a strong suspicion that Briana was not a stray but that the people turning her in either didn’t have the courage to say the dog belonged to them or they were trying to avoid any surrender fees. This is really harmful as the shelter then is not able to get any background information on the dog and the dog is also required to do a “stray hold period” which keeps them in the shelter longer.

Briana is a very sweet dog. When she first got out of the shelter, she was very scared of noises and movement and very cautious of people. It was obvious that she hadn’t been taken out on walks or exposed to much of the world. With some good care and love, Briana has now realized the world is not such a scary place and she seeks out human attention and affection. (Look at her smile in her photos! Quite a change from the terrified look she had the first week in rescue)

Briana would do best in a quiet home that would continue with her socialization. This socialization is very simple to do. Merely take her for walks around the neighborhood, for coffee at Starbucks, etc. The more Briana gets out and about, the more confident she will become. Plus our Briana is a little pudgy so walks would be great for her figure.

Briana arrived in rescue with her buddy Burt who has acted as her “courage”. She will continue to need a similar calm, confident canine sibling in her new home. (If you are interested in a pair, Burt is also available. As a pair, they have a reduced adoption fee.)

Briana is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She also recently had a dental cleaning and she is crate trained. If you can give Briana a wonderful home, please contact Janice via email rplsecr@sbcglobal.net . An adoption application available at www.scdr.org is required.
