My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** LOCATED IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA *** (11-26-06)

Gin is a 5 year old Jindo mix. Before he was rescued, he was living on a chain at an empty house with someone occasionally coming to refill his food and water. His owner was so neglectful that Gin once went a week without anyone coming by. Despite the horrible care he received, Gin still loves people unconditionally. Due to a car accident, he has no vision in his left eye, and a cataract has taken most of the vision from the right. But his blindness has no negative effect on his wonderful temperament. He does bump into many things in unfamiliar environments, but when he bumps into you, he'll give you a big smile and some kisses. He seems to take everything in stride, and he remains an affectionate and tolerant dog. Gin is a little overweight at 70 lbs, and unused to vigorous excercise because of his life on a chain and his blindness. Short walks are all that are necessary for this couch potato. He would do well in a tidy home, small or big, that he can learn his way around easily. Stairs would be dangerous for him and should be kept off limits in a 2 story house. He gets along well with other friendly dogs. He is not much of a guard dog, as he loves all people, but does give brief warning woofs when strangers approach. Because of his gentle and tolerant nature, he would do well with children who know how to treat dogs, but requires an experienced adult for training because of his sheer size. But he is eager to please and catches on quickly. He is completely housebroken and learning to walk nice on a leash. He is so much fun to have around in the house because he's like a giant teddy bear, and loves to just lay around, hanging out.
