My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update - 1/10: Sheena has settled in much better than expected, andis doing very well. She is even playing with the dogs in her foster home now! She tested negative for heartworm disease, and has been declared in excellent health!

Meet Sheena! Sheena is a sweet, beautiful, 6 year old female with a heartbreaking story.

Sheena was purchased as a puppy, and was raised and spent her entire life in a horse stall. She was never taken out, and never socialized with people or other animals. A few weeks ago, her elderly owner passed away, and his children took poor Sheena to the animal shelter.

Sheena was understandably confused and stressed out by her new surroundings. She was not doing well at the shelter, and was spinning in her cage and whining.

After a few days, someone came to the shelter and adopted Sheena. They took her home and put her out in their back yard. Sheena, being accustomed to a small, closed in space, did not do well on her own out in the yard. When a thunderstorm came, she tore the siding off the side of the trailer trying to get under the house for protection. So back to the shelter she went. It was at that point that we were called.

Sheena is now in a foster home, and is coming around beautifully. All she needed was a little love and patience, and to understand that she is safe and loved now. She gets along well with other dogs, loves children, and although a little hesitant when meeting new people, she warms up very quickly and loves attention.

Sheena is utd on routine vaccinations and flea/tick prevention, She has been spayed and microchipped. She will be going to the vet today for a physical exam and a heartworm test.

She must go to an indoor home where she will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes.
