Gumby's Info...
| Breed: | Rat Terrier Mix | Color: | White - With Black | Age: | Adult |
| Size: | Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less | Sex: | Male |
Gumby is now 8 years old and was deemed unadoptable by Sun Valley Animal Shelter because of birth defects of his legs. Defects of front and back legs on his right side force him to hop on his 2 left legs. He has 1 leg that is about 2" longer than all his other legs. He was adopted out once but his new owners brought him back because they couldn't handle his hopping (good grief!!!). He is just the sweetest little boy and has made himself right at home from the moment he came to the Sanctuary. His defects do not slow him down at all as he runs, jumps and plays like a normal dog - he loves his new toys! He just had is bloodwork done and all results were fantastic
Gumby would be better as an only dog and in a home with no children. He gets spooked when children are around which will cause him to nip and act out.
Gumby is available for adoption to a qualified home. If you have any questions or would like to meet Gumby, contact us at 602-596-5568.
Rescue Group Info...
Mingus Manor was formed in an effort to help individuals and their senior pets when circumstances become unmanageable due to medical illness, loss of independent housing (moving to a nursing home), and terminal diagnosis. When family and friends can't take responsibility for a loved one's pet, we may be able to help.
Our goal is to comfortably house and provide veterinary care for all Mingus Manor residents while they enjoy their golden years. We want to dedicate this facility to their lifetime care if they cannot find their own forever home.
Mingus Manor is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that provides care for Senior and Special Needs pets.
Founded by Karen Scherer of Loving Hands Pet Care in Phoenix, AZ, the Sanctuary's mission is to provide the care needed to those pets, who are deemed unadoptable by other rescues and animal agencies. However, no animal is ever unadoptable! There is someone for everyone,as the saying goes, and if we can find those wonderful human beings that share our love for these two groups and are willing to give them loving homes, we are all for that.
We want our seniors and special needs animals to be matched with the right family. We ask that you fill out our adoption/foster application that is provided on our website. Once your application is received, we will contact you and discuss in detail what you are looking for. After that, we will come to meet you and the rest of your family for a home check. Our adoption fee is $75-$100.
