My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pita's adoption is pending! 9/12/11
Miss Pita checked into Camp on August 13th. She is being treated for heartworms by our vet & will need to receive 1 last treatment around Sept 20th. After that treatment, she will need a little more time to rest & kept calm.

Pita was found after being abandoned in the country. She was quite anemic due to the number of ticks on her, but she is now energetic & full of life, and tick free. Pita weighs 38 lbs & is a bundle of spunk & love. She's a mix of Cairn Terrier/ Schnauzer / Scottish Terrier . Her legs are longer than a Scottie, which makes her good to climb in & out of cars as well as hop onto the sofa for some rolling around & cuddling. Her love fests with us are new, they started after she had Reiki sessions. We're so glad for her to have thse treatments because she's responded wonderfully. Her discomfort in the home & general insecurities have melted away, leaving a happy, confident, & social dog. She acts much younger now, too. The vet guessed her to be 1-2 years old which she didn't act like at first, but now she does! Pita's gotten her new lease on life & is looking for her very own family.

Pita is kennel trained (crate, indoors that is) & she walks into it with a treat to coax her. During the night, she doesn't make a peep; she sleeps soundly until we awake in the morning. She's also been free to roam a few nights, and Pita will find a spot on the sofa or a comfy dog bed to dream the night away.

Her temperament is sweet as pie. If she's in the mood for play or love & we're ot paying attention, she will bark a few times, pop a wheelie, & come to lick our feet or hand. She is great with other dogs, as she is with cats. The family who saved her had small to medium children & she was fine with them, too. All in all, Pita is a wonderful little lady who will make someone very happy.

Pita will be a good beginners dog, meaning someone who has never had a dog. She prefers walking on a leash to potty vs. going out to roam in the backyard. This means she will love apartment-living & having a leash-walker human more so than a let-me-out-the-back-door-while-you-get-ready-for-work human. Qutie frankly, she hates going to potty in the backyard. This makes it imperative for her new family to be committed to LEASH-WALKING. When she has to go, Pita sits by the front door, thus it's not hard to tell when it's time for a walk.

Pita is spayed & current on her vaccinations. If adopted prior to finishing, it is mandatory that she receive her final round of heartworm treatment as well as a final heartworm test following treatment to confirm she is negative.

Adoption fee is $90. Thank you for wanting to share your home with one of our rescued pups!

If you are a parent adopting for your children, please remember we do pick the best home for our pups. If there are 2 applications that come in at the same time, for example, and one will be a better fit, that is the one we choose. Many parents pump up their children about getting a specific puppy, and it can be very sad for the child if the particular puppy isn't a good fit unbeknownst to them. We put this disclaimer here because a couple of parents have been upset when a home that used doggy daycare & had a fenced in yard was chosen over crate-all-day without a backyard. Peace.
