My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Jazzy. He is about 2-3 years old, and although he currently has some physical limitations, he still has the energy and spirit of a puppy. His background and previous life, as detailed to us, is cringe-worthy, and abominable. Jazzy was kept in a crate most of his life on a porch, only being let out to potty in a litter box inside of a few foot range of the cage. It’s alleged that he was also physically abused, had been “kicked” and “was never really allowed outside the crate, that’s why he can’t walk so well”. The physical reasons behind him not walking so well, are due to a fused vertabrae in his spine, as well as severe hip dysplasia in both hips. It’s likely he has developed arthritis in his hips and joints from not ever having been allowed outside of a porch to walk and exercise his muscles. Given his deplorable previous circumstances, most would assume that he’d be skiddish and terrified of everything but quite the opposite is true! Jazzy is playful, extremely affectionate, fiesty, curious, energetic, and all around the sweetest little pug! Although pugs aren’t necessarily known for being the greatest guard dogs, Jazzy tries his hardest and voices his concern for strangers employing his gruff little bark. He’s only 17.5 lbs, which is a pretty good weight for him right now given his orthopaedic issues. This adorable pug boy lacks the common issues pugs are often afflicted with, however, and has the most clear dark eyes and healthy white teeth! Jazzy loves to give kisses, (climbing up your chest with his front paws until he kisses you to the point of taking your breath away), chew on toys, take long walks, and romp around with the other pugs. He currently has cat friends at his foster home, whom he is both curious about and gentle with.

Jazzy will require medical treatment for his spinal injury and hip dysplasia, which he is being seen by a specialist for in the near future. Jazzy has a long, healthy life to live and tons of love to give. He deserves and needs a loving and patient forever home that will make him forget his horrible past and live for the future! Thank you all for the donations made for Jazzy, which are much appreciated and needed! PROoF will keep you updated as to his progress.

Update: He had his MRI, hemilaminectomy level 1 T12-13 left, ivvd invertebral disc disease and he was neutered. Thats the beginning of the road for this sweet boy, but he deserves to be happy and healthy. He needs supplements for his joints and possibly elongated palate surgery. He is on five different medications right now, needs a special food for crystals and his urinary tract infection is clearing up. He will need to stay at the vet specialists in Sarasota for a couple more days. The same vet Cubby had her surgeries! Jazzy has a wonderful foster home in Sarasota too! We really need help with his vet bills, as we have had a few puggies head to the specialist for spinal surgery and have another one that needs to go. Your generosity is helping these sweet pugs get the help they need and deserve! Thank you
