My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HEY ALL YOU DOXIE FANS out there, we’d like to introduce you to Scarlet! She is our happy-go-lucky little Doxie lady who is about 2-years-old. And, even after what she went through, Scarlet still loves everyone, dogs and cats included. You see, about 3-4 weeks after Scarlet gave birth, she and her beautiful babies were surrendered to a high-kill shelter. Luckily for her babies, within weeks, they were all adopted, but poor momma Scarlet sadly was left behind. Then, Friends With Four Paws heard about sweet Scarlet and came to her rescue. Scarlet is safe and sound, but we’d like to make her happy tail complete, so now all Scarlet needs is a loving, patient forever home who has experience with and understands the Doxie breed. And, if all this hasn’t convinced you of what a sweet girl she is, just look at what her foster mom has to say about her. “ I think of her as "Scarlett O'hara" because she is a sweet little lady!! She is extremely well behaved, many times better than my two boy dogs. Scarlet loves to go on outings, she patiently waits by the door until we are ready to go. She's smart! Follows commands "stay" & "come", does well in her crate & is potty trained. She is very gentle, observant & wants to please. She is so lovable!! Her new owners will be very pleased!! She is a great dog!!”

So, if you think you’d like to open up your heart and home to our little lady Scarlet, then please contact Friends With Four Paws as soon as you can.

Our adoption fees are based on the age of the dog and range from $250 to $500. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, 30 days of pet insurance, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.

All of our dogs are rescued from the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, which is a high volume, high kill facility. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where it is kept for a minimum of 2 weeks for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. After the 2 week quarantine time they are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. They are then placed on the website. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested in it, we make arrangements with the waiting foster to pick the animal up from the airport to then meet with the potential adopter. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
