Zoey's Story...
Hey, over here! I'm Zoey, a lovable young girl looking for a great home. An interesting mix of breeds (Italian Greyhound and Dachshund) makes me so very unique. I'm housetrained, crate-trained, and know lost of commands. I'm super smart and love lots of attention and training, so someone who has a lot of time for me would be best. Did I mention I'm a great walking partner? I've lived with other dogs and small children, so I would be happy in lots of environments. I'm kind of overwhelmed at the shelter, so a nice volunteer has agreed to keep me until I meet my forever family. Call (512) 685-0112 or fostercare@austinhumanesociety.org if you'd like to arrange a meeting. I'll be waiting for your call!

This pet comes with a 30-day gift of Sheltercare pet insurance, the number one brand of pet insurance for adopted pets. Over 3 million adopted pets have already been insured!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zoey, a Austin Italian Greyhound/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Italian Greyhound/Dachshund for sale in Austin, or seeking a Italian Greyhound/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Italian Greyhound/Dachshund breeders who help with Italian Greyhound/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
