Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bongo" is an approx 9-mos old neutered male Yellow Lab/GSD/Sharpei (you can barely see the Sharpei in him) who is super-friendly, super-playful, and just a great all--around family dog. Bongo is very affectionate with those he knows, but is reportedly somewhat shy of strangers. He's excellent with kids. Bongo is great with other dogs, old and young. He loves to wrestle and to be chased--great dog-park candidate! Bongo is likely not good with cats like most of his breed--. Bongo is a medium-sized dog, weighing only about 50 lbs, and of course he still has some growing to do.
Bongo is very well-behaved in the house. He has yet to chew anything here at GSRSV's "dog house", and reportedly was equally well-behaved in his former home. He loves playing fetch and tug-of-war. He loves to swim, and one of his favorite games is to bite the water stream from a hose. Bongo loves going for walks, but is apparently very reactive towards other dogs, and sometimes kids on bikes or skateboards, when on leash. I attribute this to the friendly energy in Bongo, and I'm sure that he can overcome this behavior with enough exposure and firm guidance.
An independent rescuer rescued Bongo from the Glenn County shelter in Willow, CA, in
early June. A family in Carmichael adopted Bongo shortly thereafter. Though Bongo did great in nearly every respect in his new home, his over-the-top reactions to other dogs and people when walking on leash led the family to return him on June 5. The rescuer who rescued Bongo is presently boarding Bongo at GSRSV's facility.
I KNOW that Bongo has no aggression in him, and that his seemingly aggressive behavior on leash was just pent-up puppy energy. Again, just a little training is all I feel that Bongo will need to be fine on-leash.
Bongo's adoption fee is $250.
