My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tucker is a 2 year old harlequin male with natural ears and one blue eye and one brown eye. Tucker was turned into the rescue after one of the children in the home grabbed Tuckers collar and tried to pull him away from another dog's food bowl. Tucker turned around and his tooth punctured the child's face. The same child pulled his collar at a later time and Tucker ran and hid. Tucker lived with another Dane and was let outside on a line. A visit to the vet revealed Tucker was heart worm positive, which he has since been treated for. He REALLY loves going outside and running in the fenced yard with his foster sister and brother, both Danes. He loves to play with tennis balls and Jolly balls. He has done well crate training. He knows sit, come and down. He is more likely to do his tricks if there is a tasty treat involved. Tucker is definitely a counter surfer. Indoors Tucker wants to be a lap dog. Tucker will turn his back to you and before you know what is going on he will back up and land right in your lap with his front feet on the ground! He does not always know his size. Tucker learns new things quickly. He will only get on furniture he knows he is allowed on. Tucker is protective of his people and needs encouragement when meeting new people. He tends to growl a little when he sees new people and will greet people nicely with a little positive reinforcement from his family. He has greeted every dog he has met nicely so far. Tucker has lived with cats in his past, but should only live with a dog savvy cat as he will chase a cat. He will pull during his walks when he gets excited even on a head collar. Tucker is startled by loud noises. He also gets mildly stressed in situations where there is a lot of activity. Car rides are adventures for Tucker and he doesn't hesitate to hop in the car! Tucker would be thrilled to have a family with a fenced yard and preferably another large dog to play with. He would be happy to have a family with no children or children 14 and up that will take care not to startle him. He would love a quiet home that has little activity. Tucker will need a family that will encourage him when meeting new people and help him build that confidence. His family will need to remind strangers that he loves to be petted under the chin not over his head, the lower they are to the ground the better he feels and he really prefers they let him go to them. Tucker wants nothing more than to play outside and come in and cuddle with his people. Tucker is in love with the teenage girl in his home, and he is a huge hit at the vet where he has had multiple visits due to his heart worm treatment. Tucker is patiently waiting for his family to find him!
