Meet Spanky Lee. He was rescued from a shelter in NC. Here are Spanky's basic stats: He is about 3.5 yrs old, weighs about 12.5 pounds, and is pure lean muscle (right now he is on the thin side right now and needs to gain some weight). Spanky is about 13" high at the shoulder. He has begun heartworm treatment and is on activity restrictions; he will be ready to go to his new home the first week of October.
Behavior: Spanky is an active boy who would be an excellent candidate for flyball, agility or other activities. He is very athletic, absolutely loves to play ball, and is very attentive to who is working with him. Spanky seems to like water as well. He listens when asked to "settle", and he enjoys sitting with you after a good game of ball. Spanky is submissive to the other dogs in the house and actually is more interested in playing with his people and toys than the other dogs. He would need a fenced yard or owner who will take him to a dog park and for the activity necessary for this nice young boy. Spanky also ingnores the cats in his foster home. As for children, he is not living in a home with them currently. Spanky is doing well with potty training and he has not had accidents in the home. He is also crate trained, and he really enjoys sleeping in one - and will seek it out during the day. Spanky also seems to do well on a leash. He is a little shy of strangers when they first come into the home but as he gains more confidence I am sure this will improve.
Summary: Overall, Spanky is a fun, outgoing boy who loves to play, but in true Rat Terrier fashion - loves his family and enjoys cuddle time and a soft warm bed.
