Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Oscar has a great beagle temperament! He is gentle and not jumpy. He listens well when redirected and is well mannered. I do need to make sure he doesn't pick up anything he shouldn't to chew on - but he is actually pretty good about that. He LOVES playing with other dogs and would make a great companion for another dog. He does not appear dominate and has no signs of an aggressive nature - not even a snarl.
He is startled by loud noises and fast movements. (Like a car door slamming or if something drops.) He was alarmed at the park with bouncing balls and all the commotion.
I took him to a Jr. High football game and he did great; let the kids come up and pet him with no problem. He rode on my lap in the car to the game with no anxiety, but slept in the passenger seat on the way home.
We had an 8 year old visitor and Oscar was great in the house and very happy. However, when the little boy was running around the yard - Oscar got scared. I asked the boy to sit on the ground and call Oscar, and then Oscar came right over to him. I believe he likes kids but perhaps children that are older and understand they will need to be patient with him would be better.
He can be a little timid around adults too but loves the attention and gives kisses. I think he has lacked some love in his life but he really wants to give it. A family that can continue to help build Oscars confidence would be ideal!
