My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 01/23/13: Ahoy matey, Manny here. Real quick, still in Largo, Fla, still about 12 years old and holding steady at 18 lbs, (foster mom caught me eating everyone's food again when I knew she wasn't watching). Just wanted to get a quick shout out to the Tampa Bay Area and wish all you pirates and swashbucklers, a happy and safe Gasparilla weekend!!

Update 12/28/12: Manny man here in Largo, Florida, currently 11 years old and wait for this, 18 lbs. Yes, I said 18 lbs, my foster Mom is so happy!!! Slow but sure she said. Anyway, I hadn't been feeling good a while ago so foster mom took me to the dog-ter and had them do every test they could do to make sure I was healthy. I was poked and prodded in places I didn't know I had. Well, after all that we found my teeth had a lot of infection and all of them had to go except a few, but they took my signature snaggletooth and now I can't keep my tongue in my mouth, but no problem eating, no sirree! Foster mom is watching me real close to make sure I'm not eating anyone else's food. So enough about me, how is everyone out there doing? Don't forget about me!!!

Update 09/03/12: Hey look, Manny here in Largo, Fla and this is me walking, see I do get around. I have started walking and running and jumping (well my idea of a jump, actually a hop), and have lost 2 lbs. Foster mom has even broken me of begging for food, but I still stare at you. So I currently am approximately 20 lbs and am around 9 years old. I'm still not sure how I got into a Yorkie website but here I am. I love, love people!!! I love kids and they love me. I may not be as pretty as those smaller puppies but I have a huge personality!! So call me, maybe :-)

Update 06/22/12: Sorry it's been awhile since you heard from me, but there was a lot going on at the foster home here. We continue to get back to a schedule day by day. So the latest and greatest is, I am settled in here in Largo, Fl at a nice and hefty 18 lbs. As you can see I am in need of someone to take me out and get some more exercise. Everyone who meets me falls in love with my personality and I'm not being stuck up, just honest. Really now, everyone that has been and out of the house here lately have just fallen in love with me, unfortunately they weren't in it for an adoption. I truly love being around people and am obviously a terrible beggar. Foster mom, keeps putting me on diets and I really feel better and am much more active then I used to be, I even try to jump up on you now to give you kisses. I like people of all sizes, both big and small. The only thing that does bother me, is to be woken up from a nap and be told it's time to go to bed, Can't they see I am sleeping already, here or there, it shouldn't make a difference, but foster mom said she feels better if I am in the bedroom with everyone else. I sleep all night, get up in the AM and expect to go out and take care of my business and then go in to EAT! My Favorite. So don't forget about me, are you willing to walk me, I love to walk, and car rides and even like to play in my own way, but it does involve my human to touch and cuddle me while I rub my head on you and talk, now that's playing!!!!

Update 03/18/12: UPDATED BIO 03/18/2012: Manny thought it was time to pass a little more information about him, besides the fact that he is a love muffin and everyone he meets is fascinated by him:
Special Diet Required: No
Special Medications Or Treatments Required: No
Housetrained: Yes, most of the time, just take him out every couple of hours
Pee Pad Trained: yes
Leash Trained: Yes
Requires Fenced Yard: No, just likes to hang out in the sun for short periods of time, not big on running off =)
Daily Walks: Likes to take short walks, really does need more walking
This Dog Can Cohabitate With Other Dog(s): Yes
Size Preference Of Other Dog(s): Doesn't matter
Age Preference Of Other Dog(s): young -close to his age
Dog Is Amenable To Children 12 And Under: Yes

If you are reading this and think I may be the one for you, I really don't require a lot to maintain me! A couch or rug to sack out on, someone I can give lots of kisses too, and someone to love me unconditionally. The only thing I don't like, is being asleep on the couch, being woken up to be told it's time to go to bed, then I get a little grouchy!

Update 02/20/12: Manny back, still in Largo, Fla and still battling the weight, just like so many of us are. But on the bright side I've lost about 1 lb and I really am more active and even taking walks now (short, but it's a start). How do you all like my new mohawk? Foster mom, just thought it fit my personality and she's trying to let my ears grow longer too. I think she likes to experiment with me. She said to tell you I'm still here because I am deserving of a very special home for a very special boy and until she gets it right, I will be available, Could that special place be with you????

Update 02/04/12: Manny here to let you know foster mom said we are getting attached to this little round man. I am still in Largo, Fl and still weigh about 18 lbs, but foster mom is putting me on a diet and making me move around more. I am 7 years old and one of the mellowest little guys you could ever own. A fence is not necessary for me, I don't have the wanderlust. I like to go out and spend time out if you're out there with me. I'll even run across the yard now when called. Yes, that's right, I did say RUN! At this time, there is no sign of the cancer I previously had and just like a person, it may never come back. I can spend time by myself, as long as I have a nice cushy bed to stay in, and even in the crate if necessary, for I don't always remember my house manners, so having someone around to remind me is a good alternative. I love to meet and greet new people and am always willing to get hugs and kisses. Foster mom said I am a very special dog for a very special person!

Update 12/05/12: Hi folks, Manny back, just thought I'd check in with a quick update. I'm still not sure who said I am a Yorkie, but I sure am glad they did, because I am doing so good!!! I look like a little polar bear don't I? So the scoop is, I weigh about 18 lbs, I'm still in Largo, Fl, I like big cushy beds. I am an excellent watch dog, I get along just fine with all the other puppies in the house, and love being loved. Obviously my next love is to eat <3

Manny does require someone to remind him, he needs to go outside to do his business and when he's outside, he does need to stay outside long enough to take care of business otherwise, he does get side tracked. His favorite passtimes are taking naps, when he really should be getting his exercise, but his personality is so cuddly, it's hard to make him do something he doesn't care about doing. If what you are looking for is a sweet, mellow, laid back, heart breaker, Manny is the one for you!!!! Think very hard about him, because he does want a forever home where he can be with his people. A fenced yard, another puppy in the house and a stay at home parent ARE NOT A REQUIREMENT!!!

UPDATED BIO 10/26/2011: Manny here, still in Largo, Fl. :) Living up to my pet names of Tank or Snaggletooth, I'll answer to any of them. Still healthy at 13.9 lbs. Foster mom thinks I may have some Lhasa in my lineage because of the tooth set and the blocked body, who knows, or cares, all I need is for you to love me. I am a very mellow little 7 year old, who loves to spend the day napping away and then a couple of play periods, maybe a walk or two are good for me. I don't have the anxiety issues a lot of us smaller dogs have, although I do like to tell you when something is amiss in the house, such as a leaf blowing across the porch, or anything major like that. I don't do it a lot, just certain times of the day when it's my turn to watch. I really like nothing better then to have you rub my head so I can snuggle into your side and hug you, that is the best thing in the whole world. I would love to have a furever home to spend the rest of my life in, could it be your's? I promise I will make you very happy!!!

Update 10/08/11: This is Manny's foster mom and I wanted to give you some updated information about Manny. He is a very sweet, loving, kind-hearted little man. He does have red rimmed eyes, seems to be a little bit albino, does squint a lot when outside or in bright lights. He likes to meet and greet people, take walks and car rides. Loves to take long naps in his bed in the crate, but he "doesn't do mornings"! He's the 1st in the house to alert you when something isn't right, or so he thinks. Manny would do best in a slower paced home, although he does have his moments when he gets wound up and will play as hard as any 3 year old, though those moments are far and few between. He now weighs approximately 14 lbs and his hair is growing in very thick. Oh yeah, he loves to give big kisses, snaggletooth and all. Could you have the perfect home for Manny?

UPDATED BIO 09/29/2011: Manny is a sweet little Maltese/Yorkie mix, who was found in the streets and was literally pulled from the euthenasia room. You see, Manny is a cancer survivor. He did have a tumor removed, but just like his Foster Mom, is currently cancer-free. He could be cancer-free forever, or it could return at any time. Manny is believed to be 10 years old and weighs approximately 13.9 lbs, and is being fostered in Largo, FL. He does like to sleep in most mornings, but certainly has his puppy moments where he loves to romp and play and bark, like he was 5 years old. His hair had been shaved because he was so matted when he came into rescue, but now with proper nutrition, his coat is growing in and he looks like a little teddy bear. Manny is a very good little boy who is deserving of a loving home. He also loves to play and is very protective of his home, and when he gives kisses with the little snaggletooth of his, be careful, you could get hurt.  But he loves to give kisses, so just turn your head the other way to be at a different angle then his tooth. What a sweetie-pie - could your home be Manny's forever home? Please give this precious little boy who had had a tough life a chance at happiness - don't turn away from him.

INITIAL BIO 08-28-2011: MEET MANNY – he is a 10 year old 7 lb Maltese-Yorkie mix (a Morkie!), who has had a very tough time recently. Manny was pulled from a high-kill shelter where he was destined for certain death due to several painful tumors on his rear end. Some very generous donors helped pay for Manny to have the much-needed surgery to remove the tumors – thank you to everyone who donated! When the biopsy was returned, it revealed that Manny had Rectal Adenocarcinoma. For all the rescuers who networked together to pull Manny from the shelter, have him vetted and temporarily boarded, and helped transport him to his current foster home, this was very sad news. But there is some good news – the tumors were removed and Manny is presently in good health and feeling much better. Unfortunately, bad news sometimes follows good news – and the bad news is that this type of cancer will return – it could be 2 months or 10 years, and there is no way of predicting when it will return.

We’re not sure how Manny’s last dental was done, but they left a big tooth in the front of his mouth, giving real personality to his adorable face! Because he was so matted, he was shaved somewhere along the way, but his beautiful soft hair will return. His foster parents are lovingly calling him “Snagglepuss” and he doesn’t seem to mind. He is getting lots of attention and the comforts of a safe and secure home. Manny will need a forever home where he can continue to get lots of love and attention - which he so richly deserves. He is not a high-energy dog, but he IS a real doll baby boy. His foster parents will keep everyone posted as they get to know Manny better.
