UPDATED BIO 11/15/2011: Hershey here! I'm four years young! I'm
handsome! I'm friendly and playful.... and I'm a healthy 7.5 lbs. I
mean, really, what more could you possibly be looking for!!? I love to
play, love to fetch, love to go for walks, and love to eat. I love to
chew nylabones or bully sticks, and like to chase the other puppies at
the park. I am housetrained, and I love to sleep in bed with you all
nuzzled up under the covers. Logan won't play with me. Maybe you have
a furkid who likes to play.... or one of those two-legged kids who
like to play. I would LOVE a yard, but I don't NEED one. What I really
need is a FURever home... pleeeeease??? Oh yeah, I am being fostered
in Miami, FL..... and one last thing.... I am recovering from
non-contagious mange (I look soooooooo good, don't I?), and should be
ready for adoption by the beginning of December. woo-hoo!
UPDATED BIO 09/24/2011: Hershey is a sweet little 4 year old 7 lb boy
who is being fostered in Miami, FL. Hershey is a yorkiepoo and has
demodectic (non-contagious) mange. He is receiving treatment and doing
so well! His previously bloody and oozing skin has healed and we're
just waiting for his hair to grow back.He will be getting a dental
soon. He is playful, loves dogs, loves people, and is 100%
house trained. This little guy has never had an accident. He either
goes outside or on wee wee pads.
Hershey should be ready for adoption in about 6 weeks. We are taking
applications for him. Thanks for looking!
INITIAL BIO 09/04/2011: My name is Hershey. I am 4-5 years old and weigh just 7 lbs. Momma says I am probably a yorkiepoo...... and the sweetest one at that! I was rescued yesterday from a high kill shelter where I spent almost a week waiting for someone to come and rescue me. Just when I had given up hope, FM showed up and told me everything was going to be OK and that there was family out there waiting for me - even though they didn't know who I was yet.
I'm not sure when my family stopped loving me, but FM thinks it must have been a long time ago. See, I have Demodectic Mange. It's not contagious, but it's something that once corrected, isn't likely to be an issue anymore. FM is treating me for that and a very severe skin infection that is covering my neck down to my bottom. I have gaping sores and bloody, oozing wounds on my back. I was so matted that FM had to shave me down, careful not to cut my already compromised skin. I probably had 4 baths yesterday (and I was neutered yesterday; so FM tried to be careful, but she said there wasn't a choice. I was so filthy). The bathwater ran black, and it felt so good to be clean.
Right now I am on lots of antibiotics and a special antibacterial shampoo to treat the secondary bacterial infection that I have (they call it pyoderma). All of this will go away, but right now I am enjoying getting cuddle time with mom (she doesn't mind my icky-ness) and just plain being loved. I am interested in toys, but I am not quite sure what they're for yet. I like other dogs and people too. FM says I am going to make some family very very happy.... oh yeah, I haven't had ONE accident yet! woo-hoo for me! (FM says it might be the poodle in me haha).
