Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bella (aka Isabella Snortillini because she sometimes snorts and snores) is about 1 year old and 60 lbs. Her previous family surrendered her because they had lost their home. She's a beautiful gray and white staffie (possibly boxer mix), built like a tank with a heart like cotton candy. Bella is very endearing, submissive, sweet and sensitive.
Bella is housetrained and crate-trained. She enjoys car rides and knows basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and shake. She also enjoys her time in the crate, often preferring to sleep in there even when she doesn't have to. She'll even squeeze herself into a smaller dog's crate, all scrunched up and she'll look at you as if you say, "See, I fit." Bella could use more work on leash, and we've found that putting a doggie backpack on her on walks makes a huge improvement. She is great off-leash and goes walking on the trail with me and the other dogs every day. She generally sticks close to either one of the other dogs or to me and comes when I call her name; however, I wouldn't put it past her to dart off if something caught her eye so I wouldn't say she's 100% trustworthy off-leash at this point. She wants to please and we think she has the basic training and disposition to pass the Canine Good Citizen test.
Bella has a wonderful temperament. She is comfortable with all people, including children. She also gets along with other dogs, big and small. She is super playful and would do great with another equally playful dog in the household. Bella is a submissive girl and is definitely a follower rather than a leader. She's sensitive as well, so if a dog is growly or snappy, she'll tend to avoid that dog. She absolutely loves toys and fetching balls. She also loves being in the water (except for baths). She's not hyper but she is young and would do best with plenty of exercise but probably doesn't have the endurance for a marathon runner.
Bella can seem aloof when you first meet her. Not unfriendly, just distracted or more interested in other things. Sometimes she can be just a little unsure about meeting new people and dogs but she gets over it quickly and continued socialization will make her even more comfortable with new meetings. She wasn't very interested in me when we first met but within 24 hours, she became my shadow and now follows me around everywhere. Around the house, she likes to see where I am going and will often accompany me from room to room. When we're off-leashing in open space, there is always a point when we turn around to head back towards the car that Bella will stick to my side like glue, at perfect heel without my ever asking her to be. If I walk on one side of the trail, she is next to me. If I move to the other side, she does too. If I zigzag, she'll zigzag right along with me.
Bella truly is a most loyal companion. She is so trusting and tolerant. When she's not quite sure of something, she'll lean up against you with complete faith that you'll protect her. She's fun and good-natured and has an adorable way of cocking her head to one side when she's watching you. She really doesn't have any bad habits (other than de-stuffing toys). She's a joy to have around with just a hint of vulnerability that makes you love her even more. Give her a chance to warm up to you and she will fill your years with happiness and warmth.
Bella is currently being fostered in ANTIOCH. Please send an email to request an adoption application if you would like to meet her. There is a $200 tax-deductible adoption fee that helps to pay for the medical expenses of our rescued dogs. Bella is spayed, microchipped, current on shot and flea/tick preventative, and heartworm tested negative. A homecheck will also be required to ensure that she goes to an environment best suited to her.
