Willy is getting used to being crated when his foster family is not at home. He cries a bit when you first leave but settles pretty quickly. He doesn’t seem to have any fears of anything and is just loves to snuggle and play. Although he is the first to get up to play when you toss a ball, he is also the first one to stretch out on the couch for quiet time. He would be great as a second dog and even with the foster’s 8 lbs puppy he is very gentle. He is also fine with cats.
It would appear that Willy did come from a home as he has good house manners with no counter surfing, no chewing, etc. He is completely house trained not having had any accidents from day one. We haven’t actually had him on a leash yet so I can’t say what his leash manners are like but being that he is just a young dog I would assume some obedience training would be a benefit. Being that he is a hound mix he should probably never be left off leash in an open area in case he follows his nose.
Willy is a great size (17 lbs) for almost any family and would fit in just about anywhere. He really enjoys snuggling with the kids so I think he may have had children in his previous home. He also likes to play and snuggle with our dogs so he would make a great second dog. He totally ignores the cats. He is really good around food and doesn’t beg or bother the kids for food at all. He is quiet and well behaved in the house but loves to play with balls and toys (another reason that kids would enjoy this boy). He is also very gentle and plays nicely with Cupcake our 8lbs puppy and isn’t jumpy or pushy with our children. He doesn’t seem to have much in the way of obedience training however in just 24 hours he learned his name, knew where the toybox was and pays attention to people. I am sure he will pick up obedience very easily and quickly.
