My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jack is a playful, affectionate pup and a great companion for a family with children. He loves to play fetch and will otherwise follow you around and want to be in on all the daily activities of the family. He is an intelligent boy that would excel at obedience and would make an extremely loyal and fun companion. He weighs just 31 lbs making him easy to take anywhere.

Here is what his foster family had to say about him:

Jack likes to be where the people are. He’ll sit right at your feet and wants to be doing whatever you are doing. He has a wonderful personality and would be a great little companion. He is not that interested in other dogs but is friendly with them and never tries to start trouble. He is good with children but would do best with children that would be interested in tossing a ball around in the back yard as he loves to fetch. Jack is not aggressive with people what-so-ever. He has a wonderful disposition and he is not dominant at all. He is a very friendly dog. We do not recommend that he go to a home with cats as he does like to chase them.

As Jack is still a puppy we do crate him at night and when we are not home so he doesn’t get in to any trouble. He will whine for the first few minutes when you leave during the day but settles and is fine until you return. At night he goes into his crate without any trouble and is quiet the entire time. He doesn’t appear to have any formal training but we are working on teaching him to sit, and stay, which he will now do with a treat. His recall is very good. He is getting good on leash and with another couple weeks walking he will be great. He is a smart dog and I think he will pick up on things quickly. He really wants to please you.

Jack is a moderately active dog and does enjoy going for walks. He will also play ball for as long as you will continue throwing it. He would do best in a home with a backyard to run around in and someone that enjoyed taking him for a couple walks each day. He would be ideal for someone that liked to walk, jog or hike.

Jack has a lovely coat and doesn’t seem to shed very much at all. He is also a very quiet dog and rarely barks unless there is a reason to. He will pick up things around the house and appears to have been fed people food so we crate him when we are eating.

We would love to see Jack go to a home with a big backyard where he could run and play! He would do best in a home with a family because he likes to be where the action is. He will most likely pick one person in the family as his leader and person to follow around but likes the action and love of the rest of the family. He would enjoy calm kids over the age of 8.

If you think Jack would be a good choice for your family, please go to our website at uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
