Zola is an adorable 10-week-old, terrier mix puppy that was surrendered to a shelter in Nebraska with her sister, Zoe. They traveled cross-country and came to their Blind Dog Rescue Alliance foster home and have charmed everyone they have met along the way. Although Zola is small in stature, she has a big personality and is full of life!! She loves spending playtime with her sister as well as with her Akita foster brother and sister. Zola is sweet and outgoing and loves everyone she meets. Both Zola and Zoe were born with minimal vision, but since they have been essentially blind since birth, it doesn’t affect them one bit and sssshhh….we haven’t told them they can’t see!! They find their way around their foster home, have no trouble locating the food, water dish, or toys, and run and play like any other baby puppy. We expect Zola to be approximately 20-25 lbs when she matures. We would like to adopt Zola into a forever home separately from her sister. The reason we prefer not to adopt out littermates to the same family is because puppy pairs have a tendency to bond very closely with each other, often to the exclusion of a meaningful relationship with their humans. They can become inseparable. Also, owners often underestimate the time commitment required to properly care for and train two puppies; as a result the pups often end up untrained and under-socialized. We would, however, like to adopt Zola to a home that already has a dog-friendly, sighted dog to help show her the way. We also recommend that once Zola gets to her new home, she start training in a good positive motivated Kindergarten Puppy Training Class, because early socialization and training is the best way to raise a well-adjusted adult dog. KPT class will give you a huge head start with your new puppy.
