My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunday, October 30th - Meet Rocco and our other adoptable dachshunds at Pet Pride Day 2011 in Golden Gate Park! Booth 17 at Sharon Meadows,11 am to 3 pm

Six year old Rocco was an owner surrender to the shelter. We don’t know why he was given up, but the paperwork his former owners filled out stated he was a family dog and was good with children. Unfortunately for Rocco, the shelter he was left in routinely red tags dogs age 5 and up for being “old”. (Red tagged means the dog is scheduled to be euthanized rather than being made available for possible adoption). As a dachshund, Rocco most likely has another ten to thirteen years left, so we certainly don’t consider him to be old.

In foster care we have found that Rocco seems to like people of all ages, including kids. He’s a loveable goof kind of dog that makes us think that indeed, he would be a good family dog.
Rocco is living with a pack of dogs. He is fine with them most of the time, but he gets very jealous of human attention being given to any other dog and at times will go after the dog receiving the attention. Therefore we think Rocco should be the only dog in the family.

Rocco enjoys going for walks. He will reluctantly sleep in his crate at night. So far, he has not proven to be much of a barker. Like most dachshunds, he enjoys toys that squeak. He also really enjoys having bones and cow hooves to chew on and his new home should continue to provide chewies so that he doesn’t chew inappropriate items.

Rocco is neutered, micro chipped and current on his vaccinations. He is a 2l lb standard. He came to us with a bad case of kennel cough but he has now recovered.

If you are interested in Rocco, please fill out an adoption application available at www.scdr.org and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.
The tax deductible donation for Rocco is $175.00
