Xaviea's Story...
Xaviea is a sweet little girl, was tied up outside her whole life, her fur is burnt from the sun. Her owners no longer wanted her so they stopped feeding her and cut her free of her rope hoping she would go away forever. She didn't leave and killed a couple of chickens for food. When her owners saw this they beat her in the face with a pipe and gouged her eye out. That's when a neighbor found her with her eye laying on her cheek and took her in and called rescue. Luckily, after that she came to PA to be fostered with Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. Also, Xaviea does not like her hind end touched for some reason. Her foster home is working on this issue.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a small group of volunteers spread throughout the United States (and even a couple in Canada) who are dedicated to advocating for blind and visually impaired dogs by rescuing dogs in shelters, helping blind dog owners, and educating the public. We formed in 2009, though our members have many years of experience in rescue, and in blind dogs.
Our Adoption Process...
Interested in adopting a BDRA Dog? Simply fill out our application. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered,
up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive.

We ask a $200 adoption fee. This does not begin to cover the vetwork we do on our dogs, which is why
we are always fundraising!

Keep in mind that Blind Dog Rescue Alliance will transport dogs to their potential adopters. So do not let distance discourage you.

Please email info@blinddogrescue.com with any questions.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Xaviea, a Philadelphia Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Husky for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Husky dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Husky breeders who help with Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
