My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***COURTESY LISTING*** PLEASE CONTACT MELANIE JENNINGS AT 804-276-8011 FOR MORE INFORMATION. or fill out her online application at www.crittercarerescue.com/melaniesdogs.html . ThIs is one of our last Katrina dogs. Houdini comes with an escape caveat. His dew claws are like thumbs. He can climb almost any fence … unless there’s chicken wire on top. He has not been trained for an invisible fence so we don’t know if that will work. Since Katrina he has been kept in a 12x12’ horse stall, a small dog kennel at a kennel, now he’s in a 10x5’ indoor kennel with turnout into a 20x20’ pen twice a day. I mention this because he has thrived in each placement. He has always been with another dog and never displayed aggressive behavior. We think he’s 2-3 yrs. old and we believe he was someone’s pet. He weighs about 70 lbs. He appears to be part Catahoula Leopard dog. (Gulf rescuers designated him as such based on his webbed feet, size, athletic ability, and polite, but reserved personality.) He will belly crawl for children, and he will hug a person that allows him that contact. He also will lay down and roll over. After the first 5 minutes of glee, he settles down and leads well. I don’t know if you have handled many ‘Houlas but here’s our experience. They match with a person, period. They will be polite or simply ignore everyone else, but when they match it is akin to true love, at first sight, no less. They’re matching is so intense (its truly hard to describe) that they are hard to place. Truly, it will take a special person to place this boy.
