My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

October 17th...Meet Ginger, a 10lb, 11 week Collie/Lab mix female puppy. While breed and size at maturity are only our best guess, we don't estimate Ginger to get any bigger then 40 lbs. As for the breed - Ginger resembles a collie and has a love for water that indicates she's part lab.

Ginger is being fostered in a home in Mokena with her brothers: Bandit, Ranger, and Storm, which is where you would go to meet her. She's the lone female and the smallest of the litter, don't tell this to Ginger because she has no clue. She stays busy holding her own in wrestling matches with her three brothers. She's a tiny spitfire and hilarious to watch. Getting food can be tricky for such a small pup, but Ginger finds a way. Like in wrestling, she's learned to wiggle underneath her brothers while they're eating and surprise them by popping out ahead of them at the food bowl. If that doesn't work, she has no problem trying to steal the food right out from their mouths while they are chewing.

This girl may be small, but she's got the spunk and wit to take on any size dog. She's fearless and curious. During free play when the puppies have some freedom to roam around the house, there is no room Ginger doesn't explore regardless of how many gates she has to wiggle through or squeeze around. She loves a challenge and has yet to lose.

When Ginger isn't outwitting her brothers or foster family, she's looking for some cuddle time. She loves to be picked up and held. Snuggling with people during sleep time is so much better then getting squished by her brothers. Still, if her brothers are wrestling and playing hard, don't try to rescue this girl because she wants none of it. If there's playing to be done, she's there. Speaking of playing, Ginger doesn't need her brothers for playtime. She loves to play with toys of all shapes and sizes and then there's water from the water bowl. Such a tiny face pushed into the water bowl, it's almost like swimming underwater.

Ginger is being fostered around an older dog and 3 children under the age of 10. She's always eager to say hello to everyone and loves to spend time with the kids and the older dog. She's never been exposed to kitties, but I assume they would just be another playmate for her to wrestle with.

This sweet girl who we rescued from a high kill shelter in Kentucky just hours from death has a lot of love and play to give to any family and she won't last long. I don't understand how she went unwanted, but I know once you meet her, you'll be hooked!

The adoption fee of $250.00 includes: Her spaying which will be done around 4 months, microchipped, 1st and 2nd puppy vaccination for Distemper-Adenovirus-Parainfluenza-Parvo-Lepto vaccination, dewormed with panacur and droncit, treated with Revolution for fleas and mites. You will also receive a free office visit to Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, Woodridge Animal Hospital, Yorkville Animal Hospital or Wheaton Animal Hospital, a training dvd, and tons of coupons for Petco.

The adoption also comes with a free puppy/doggy class through Flydogs located at Central Bark Doggie Day Care in Oswego, which introduces you to housebreaking, name recognition, crate training, sit/stay and leash walking. This is one free class you really don't want to miss, and 10% off purchase of a 10-day care package for dogs attending Central Bark Doggy Day Care in Oswego.
