My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Khloe is a beautiful golden colour with an angelic face, perky pointed ears and the unusual look of a fox but the disposition of an angel. She loves to go for walks, is fully house trained, can be trusted to be left alone for a full working day and has the temperament of a little doll. She is approximately 5 – 7 years old and weighs just over 15 lbs.

Kloe is very friendly and will go up to anyone, tail wagging. She has not exhibited any aggression or anxiety of any sort. She doesn’t bark and only makes a small sound when continually bothered by another dog. She is fine with another dog in the home. When another dog is getting attention she will try to get right in there for attention too.

Here is what else her foster family had to say about Kloe:

Khloe was in a crate for the first week at night and during the day when we were out. She graduated to just a crate at night and sleeps on the couch mostly during the day. She is now sleeping on a bed in another room to herself at night. There is no crating needed. She is fully house trained. She is leash trained. She tends to pull hard when she sees a squirrel or chipmunk and would head out across the road after one if not kept on a tight leash. She tends to favour her right rear leg as it appears it has been broken a while ago and not set properly. She is not bothered by it but does limp a bit when she has been walking on a hard surface like a sidewalk for long periods or pulling on her leash when she sees a chipmunk or squirrel to chase.

Khloe has not done any bad behaviours of any kind. I have never heard a sound come from Khloe except a small peep when she was harassed by another stay dog. She will be at the door when you leave and is usually laying on the couch when you return. Sometimes she knows she is not going with you so just goes to the couch and lays down when you leave. Khloe loves to go for long walks. She will walk for an hour at a time no problem but she doesn’t jump around while in the house at all. She will be content to curl up on the couch. She does not seem to tire but she will start to pull up her injured leg. She likes to lay outside in the sun on cool days and likes to lay in the dirt or a cool spot in the garden on hot days. She will be at the door ready to go when going for walks but has not tried to escape out the door. Our screen door doesn’t always close completely and I thought she might try to get out but she hasn’t.

Khloe is very good in the house. She does not chew anything she shouldn’t. At our dinner time she will lay quietly by the doorway until we are finished. If you eat something while watching TV she will sit close by looking for scraps. When laying on the couch with us while watching TV Khloe will put her paw on us as indication for us to give her attention…she likes to be pet under her chin.

At first I was concerned with her injured leg but it must have been healed for a long time now because she is not bothered by it at all. I try to walk her in parks rather than sidewalks as it seems to be better for her. Another concern was the fact that her teeth are in poor shape. She has very worn front teeth and although it doesn’t affect her eating her food, some hard objects she cannot get her mouth around. (Her mouth doesn’t open very wide…….not sure why) Khloe’s coat is fine and soft to touch. She likes to be brushed. Although she may be a bit older she doesn’t appear so in her behaviour. She seems to be quite agile and puppy like in her movements.

Khloe would be a beautiful dog for any family however I would suggest no kids that could try to sit on her or play rough with her.

Kloe would be good in a family with respectful children 6+ or as a single’s companion. She would be fine in an apartment but does love to lounge in the yard on a sunny day. She is a very loyal and loving little pet that will need some minimal special care. She will enjoy going for walks but isn’t going to win any marathons.

If you think Kloe would be a good fit for your situation and you are looking for a loving little companion to be a part of your pack, please go to our website at http://uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
