I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Desmond is a wonderful, sweet, affectionate and easy dog of 6 years. He enjoys wandering around and investigating the property of his foster home a bit and then settles down close to where we are. He loves to ride in the car and if you open the back when he is out he will most certainly lay in the back until you make him get out. We have had him out in the group class as an observer and he is interested in the other dogs but not unruly or hard to manage. He is very well behaved with the resident horses and makes the rounds by feeding without any reaction. Desmond is just happy to be close to his humans. He is not interested in the chickens or peacocks who are in coops (not free ranging). Desmond is extremely clean. He will wait to do his business when he is out free on the property instead of in his kennel run. He loves to come in the house and is a perfect house dog. He is happy to cuddle with his human and is, literally a fireplace dog (He loves to lay on the carpet in front of the wood stove.)
Our vision of the perfect home for Desmond is a calm home environment as an only dog. He is very friendly and nonreactive with other dogs but he deserves the undivided attention that an only dog would receive. He would be perfect for a retired couple or person since he is truly easy, loving and loyal. We would not crate him for any extended amount of time due to the discomfort it would cause him with his myopathic condition (a common condition in which the fibrous tissue tightens and restricts). It is also not necessary to crate him as he is well behaved and clean. A rug or dog bed in the room would be the better alternative. With Desmond......think in terms of Companion Dog. This dog will Thank with all his big GSD heart for a warm hearth, loving pets and cuddles, and a lasting forever home.
Desmond is a level 2 dog being fostered in the Redding area.
