ADOPTION FEE: $150

Fostered in North Carolina

Age: 11 years

Weight: 13 lbs.

11/14/12 – Spike has been doing great! He is still on the same dose of insulin twice a day after having a blood glucose curve every 3 to 6 months, which means we have found the right dose for him. He loves to be with you wherever you are in the house. He loves massages and makes all kinds of noises when you give him one. He still smiles when he is really happy or excited and gives kisses too. Spike is a great dog that would be a great addition to any famil

6/6/12 - Spike is still doing fantastic!!! He healed very quickly and well after his cataract surgery and is like a new pup. When he is really happy he will even smile now! He recently had a glucose curve and we were able to decrease his insulin to 2.5 units twice a day, which is great! He is such a loving and happy little man and likes to give kisses. He loves nothing more than to just be with you and loves to go bye bye with you when he can. He enjoys running in the bark yard and occassionally yelling at the neighbor dog and snuggling in bed with you at night.

1/15/12 - Spike had his cataract surgery last week and is doing FANTASTIC!!! He was able to see after surgery and is going around checking everything out. He seems so happy and excited about everything all the time. He goes in this coming week for another recheck but is doing great so far. It is so wonderful to see him so happy and excited all the time and watch him check things out he hasn't been able to see for quite some time.

1/3/12 – Spike is doing wonderful these days. His insulin has steadied and he is now on 3 units twice a day. We recently visited the ophthalmologist to discuss Spike’s cataracts and luckily he is a candidate for Cataract surgery! We have scheduled him for cataract surgery on January 11th. This should make Spike’s life a lot easier. Now he won’t bump into the things or other pups. We are so excited and hopeful that Spike will be able to see again.

10/29/11 - Spike is a very sweet and laid back little old man. He has diabetes, which he receives insulin twice daily for, and unfortunately has gone blind since becoming diabetic. He has good hearing and can follow your voice or when you snap your fingers. He has learned to walk around slowly until he figures things out, but has caught on quite quickly in his foster home as to where the back door is to go out and where some of the furniture is already too. He is very good about going outside to do his business. He wags his tail when you call him his special names and likes to give kisses too.
