My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sammy is a Canadian Beagle, which means he is leaner and taller than his American counterparts. He came to us from a private home where he was a loved and well cared for pet. Sammy is just 8 months old, is very well behaved and is microchipped. His family drove him all the way down from Georgian Bay to ensure he was not used as a hunting dog. Sammy is strictly a family pet.

Sammy's family added him to their family when their last Beagle passed. They had always had two Beagles and so they assumed Sammy would be good company for their older Beagle. Everything was going great until the husband got very ill. Since that time the older Beagle will not allow Sammy anywhere near the people and continues to beat up on him. Sammy's family felt that it would be best if he found another family where he was not always having to be crated for his own safety.

Sammy is just 8 months old but he is a very well behaved, quiet and friendly boy. He was a little nervous at first when he came into his foster home but he was very curious and within a short time he was following the other dogs around and playing with the cat. He is still not sure what is going on but has gotten use to the schedule and follows along without any issues. He does sleep crated at night with no problems but would probably love to be allowed to come to your room with you.

Sammy is house trained and knows his basic commands. He is an intelligent dog and within minutes learned to "back" and "wait" in his foster home. He would be an ideal candidate for further obedience training or he would be fine just to continue with positive reinforcement and helping finish off his repertoire of skills.

Sammy is a bit of a suck and does like to be wherever you are. He is a very quiet dog in the home and would be fine with other pets and children of all ages. He is fine when left alone for a normal working day and would love to have a home with a backyard to run around in.

If you think Sammy would be a good fit for your family, please go to our website at http://uglymutts.com and submit an application for consideration.
