Toby is friendly, bold, and confident. There is no shyness or tendencies towards aggression. Very intelligent and independent minded, Toby will be quick to learn and easy to train, though he does exhibit 'selective hearing' when he is interested in something. He will require someone that has a good sense of humor and who can be a diligent trainer. Toby is not "yappy," and barks only when he has a good reason. He is eager to please but quite willing to assume the dominant role whenever allowed. He is currently being crated at night and whenever he is left alone and this should continue until he can be fully trusted to be unsupervised in the home.
Here is what his foster family had to say about Toby:
Toby is an enthusiastic and fun loving pup. He has no hesitations meeting new people and loves to play with dogs, cats and people alike. He is very gentle, but we are still working on him not jumping up. Toby has a great demeanor about him, and lots of energy. He would love to find an active home that will take him for walks throughout the day.
Toby is a very friendly pup that loves to play, play and play. He is great with other dogs and is fine with the cats although he might be too much for cats that are not used to dogs as he will want to play with them.
Toby would probably do best in a home with older children that would enjoy playing with him an allowing him to be their buddy. He is a very fun dog and not afraid to make himself look silly just to make you smile. A great family pet for the right home.
