Look who is looking for you!

Cathy had her teeth cleaned getting ready to meet her new family – dental, spay, heartworm test all shots current, this lovely retired Cavalier has been living as a personal dog for the last few years. A retired breeder’s girl, she is ready to find a family she can love for the next 8 years of her friendly and calm life. Her adoption fee will almost cover her vet bill.

She is very easy going and happy sleeping in her basket. She loves a walk and to be held. She is quiet, calm and easy going. All she asks of her people is that you open the door so she can go out as she should. A basket just her size makes her feel very safe and secure and – I always know where she is.

This lovely pure bred Cavalier is not the dog for an active family but she is ideal for anyone looking for an easy going beauty!

Housetrained or not, all dogs need to learn how to communicate their needs in a new situation. Housetraining Tips are in your Adoption Packet.

Delivery and shipping: Free Delivery to St. Louis weekly. For other locations, we will attempt to arrange delivery. If we can get a friend to give him a ride, please expect to make a donation based on distance. Friends will donate their time but need help with the gas to continue offering such a service. We also send dogs to the east coast via Alpha Dog Transport or anywhere in the country with the help of Uship . Cost for transport and pre-travel medical is between $125 and $200. Airfare for pups and small dogs is $250 – crate and pre-fight exam included.

About the breed: The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an eager, affectionate tail-wagger. Lively, outgoing and sportive. These little dogs want to please. They understand what you want and therefore are usually easy to train and respond well to gentle obedience training. They are said to be naturally well behaved and get along well with other dogs and non-canine pets. Cavalier's love people and need lots of companionship to be happy. They should not be left alone all day. They are descended from hunting dogs and love to romp in the great outdoors. This breed sometimes displays a chasing instinct and should be kept well enclosed or leashed. They do best with older considerate children and some can be reserved with strangers. They do well in competitive obedience.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
