Lucky's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Lucky's Story...
Lucky is a sweet 3 year old pure bred Shih Tzu who LOVES, LOVES, LOVES cats! All he wants to do is lay with them all day long! Lucky came to us from a high-kill pound in NW IN with a broken Pelvis and severe eye infection. Lucky is healed now and ready for his fur-ever home. He does, however, have "dry eye", which is a condition where his tear ducts do not produce enough tears. This is common in Shih Tzus. He needs "artificial tears" drops daily to keep them most or they will get inflamed and infected. It is an easy dosage and inexpensive. Lucky is good with dogs and children of all ages, but he does have issues with food so he will need to eat alone. Lucky is housebroken, crate trained, good on the leash, and very sweet. He is up to date on vaccines, deworming, and heart worm tested negative. He will be neutered, micro-chipped, and freshly groomed prior to adoption. Lucky is a VERY lucky boy that is waiting for his fur-ever family!!

If you are interested in Lucky, please contact our Canine Adoption Coordinator, at dogadoptions@rornfp.org for more info. Please note, we do not have a building, so there are no "viewing hours". Please email for an application as our volunteers may not be able to return your call promptly. Thank you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucky, a Oak Lawn Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Oak Lawn, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Oak Lawn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Lawn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Lawn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Lawn paves the way for another one to be saved.
