My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"RUDY"
Quaker Parrot
Tampa, FL
Rudy is a young (possibly around 2 years old) Quaker parakeet. These are the little guys you see at Busch Gardens and grouped together all over the state in the high palm trees. They are very social birds and you may even see them flying in a flock early morning or early evening. Quakers have the ability to repeat phrases and words fairly clearly, and Rudy has been heard saying “Hello Rudy,” “Hi Rudy,” “Pretty Boy/Bird.” “Step up Rudy,” “Good boy,” and “No bite!” He is still learning about socializing with humans and is very sweet and friendly. He is interested in people and will be a fantastic companion for a family or single person. I am not sure how he will be with other animals and other birds as there are no other animals in his foster home right now. Here, he is king of the castle! We are transitioning him from his former seed diet onto a pellet diet as recommended by Dr. Readdy at Country Chase Veterinary. He would do well to have regular exposure to veggies and some small amounts of fruit, pasta and other bird approved foods in his diet. I have also noticed that when I leave the room, Rudy tends to jabber about whatever he has been hearing for the last few hours. It’s almost like he is rewinding it all in his head and replaying what has been said in his own way. It’s super cute and he seems like he will add a lot of joy to his forever home. Please consider Rudy for adoption!
