Eli has made HUGE improvements since he came to AWOL. He plays with other dogs of all ages. Walks wonderfully on lead and is so much fun to watch play. He runs, jumps straight up, bends and twists...lol.. he is such a clown and a happy fellow! Thankful to be alive but still lonely! He needs his very own family to love! Please consider this precious boy for your new family member!

Know the old 60/70's song Eli's Coming? Well THIS Eli will steal your heart! Eli has had a rough life. I am not sure what he has endured, but it wasn't good. Eli is very shy... not FEARFUL, shy. When I got him two days ago, he would NOT lift his head up or look at you, but with his head down and eyes lowered he would give you a slight tail wag with kind words. NOW.. he comes out of the kennel to me, leans into me for a pat and WILL raise his head and look into my eyes! Great accomplishment for such a shy guy! Eli walks well on a leash once he learns he can trust you. We went for a long walk yesterday afternoon to enjoy the nice weather. He did great! One of the things Eli loves is rolling in the grass! He gets that big pitty grin on his face as he wiggles back and forth on his back in the grass. So cute and very encouraging to see him enjoy life! Loud noises do startle him, but he settles down quickly when you show him everything is ok. Eli is quite and very gentle. He needs extra love to show him life is good and whatever he endured previously, is past. If you want a sweet, quite gentleman, Eli is for you! A.W.O.L. Rescue is located on the outskirts of Dallas Texas. The dogs/puppies were pulled from shelters in surrounding areas that were due to be euthanized had we not taken them in. It is our mission to place all of our ‘rescues’ in sound, loving homes. There will be an adoption application which must be completed and approved before meeting our 'rescues' and prior to finalization of adoptions.Home visits and vet checks are done as well. All of A.W.O.L’s rescues are fully vetted before adoptions. All dogs/puppies will be current on shots, worming and will be spayed/neutered before going to their forever homes.
