Annabelle is a beautiful bridle mixed breed pup born around May 2010 who came to Kiko in November from extremely negligent living conditions. Her health and physical condition have now improved enough so that she can be placed in a permanent home, however, her abuse and lack of socialization have left Annabelle a fearful dog so an experienced owner to continue with her rehabilitation is what we're looking for. Annabelle has adapted extremely well to her foster home, living with adults, teenagers and other dogs, including a puppy. In the safety of her home she is gentle, sweet, smart and very focused. She has mastered her basic commands but is unsure of strangers at the door and needs reassurance and supervision. Outside of her home, Annabelle can become frightened and will require a calm and experienced handler to guide her on her walks as meeting strangers and unfamiliar dogs can be intimidating. Before Annabelle was rescued, she had never experienced real-life situations and is doing her best to understand this strange world outside of a crate in an empty basement apartment. Annabelle suffered at the hands of her previous owners, yet she bonded very quickly at her foster home and is very eager to please. We are very proud of the progress Annabelle has made and she shows great potential! We will not place Annabelle in a home with small children nor is she a good candidate for dog parks or off-leash dog trails at this time. Adopting and working with a fearful dog can be both challenging and rewarding. If you have the time and energy to devote to sweet little Annabelle, please contact us. As with any young dog, Annabelle will benefit from obedience training with her new family. Annabelle will be spayed prior to going to her forever home..
