Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Chancee! Nutmeg and white with a sprinkling of freckles, this adorable girl sure got a raw deal – after living many years with a family in New Mexico, they dumped her at a shelter just because she had a bad tooth! WBCR caught wind of this and she is now safe and sound in a foster home – and yes, we had her tooth problem taken care of, too. This sweet girl is doing her best to adapt to life in her foster home, and is shaping up to be a mellow and loving lass who can’t wait to have a family to call her own!
Chancee is much more of a people dog than a dog’s dog, is likely to attach well to her people, and enjoys soaking up affection from her human friends. She especially likes to sit on her foster mom’s lap and have her tummy rubbed, and loves to sleep next to the bed if snuggling isn’t an option. Although she’s 9 years old, we don’t know much more about Chancee’s past, except that it seems likely she didn’t get out and about much – she gets pretty excited with new people and new places, and will benefit from adopters who can offer her direction when encountering these things. Although Chancee gets along with some other dogs, like a lot of dogs her age, she can be grumpy when meeting new ones. For those she knows she’s pretty indifferent about them and hardly playful – we think she’d probably be happiest as an only dog, although this could change. Like a lot of BCs (although she might be a mix), Chancee is excited by cars, can only live with
dog-savvy cats, and is not a candidate for a home with kids. Yet she’s a lower energy girl who doesn’t need a whole ton of exercise, although she likes to be outside and go for walks. She also LOVES food – which means she’s all the more motivated for training – and the toys she enjoys most are those that are delicious to chew. Apparently Chancee is also a girl with quite a lot to say, and she likes to “talk” with her foster mom with funny barky sounds, moving her lips in a most chatty manner!
Chancee is no slouch in the manners department, either, might we add…she’s housetrained, is familiar with a lot of the basics, walks pretty well on a leash, and has a good recall when there’s not a lot of distractions. Chancee will definitely benefit from adopters who have the time and energy to help her brush up on the basics - being so motivated by food, Chancee is sure to learn very quickly with reward-based training methods. She will also need a family who will establish clear and fair rules for her to live by - she’s a confident girl and it seems like Chancee’s former life was lived with not much in the way of boundaries! However, she does well with fair, clear, and kind direction, and is making good progress with adapting to the expectations and rules set in her foster home with a patient, consistent approach.
All in all Chancee is a loving, lower energy gal who deserves nothing more than a family to call her own. If you are looking for sweet, mellow companion with a splash of spunk, Chancee may be the one for you!
Chancee is spayed, fully vaccinated and living in a loving foster home in central Colorado.
