Daniel came to BHRG from the shelter in Floyd County where his owners left him. This red & white boy is 5 years old. He is healthy, neutered, and ready for adoption. He loves all kinds of attention. He likes to play with the other dogs in our home. He is nearly housetrained and is doing well with his crate training. Even though he was left to fend for himself, he hasn't displayed any food aggression towards the other dogs. His ears are so long that they lay in his water bowl when he is drinking. He loves to go for walks with his foster family and walks very well on his leash. He's very loving, has been starved for affection, and really needs a stable home. We think his name should be "George", as in Curious George, because he is always snooping around and looking for something to investigate. He is super-protective of his "person" and needs a dog-savvy, "alpha" person who can discipline him and keep him from being a "brat". A home without children would be best for Daniel.

About Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia

About Our Rescue Group...

Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia is a non-profit, volunteer effort to save abandonded and mistreated Basset Hounds. Our rescue effort began in 1991, and we have rescued over 2,500 Bassets since that time. Orginally privately funded by two volunteers, today BHRG is a non-profit charitable organization which exists solely on donations.

Orphaned Bassets are held in foster care until permanent, loving homes can be found.

Adoptions are held each weekend of the month at locations in metro-Atlanta. See our website at www.bhrg.org for specific dates and locations.

A $200 adoption donation is required for dogs under 8 years of age. A $100 donation is required of dogs 8 years old and older. This donation defrays the cost of shots, spay/neuter, heartworm treatments, and other vet costs.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...

Once the application is approved, a pre-adoption home visit is required for families outside the metro-Atlanta area. Post-adoption visits are required of families with approved applications. Once the application is received & approved, a volunteer will call to help you select the right hound for your lifestyle.
