My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SUZIE Q is a courtesy posting for Rocket Dog. She is a 2-3 year old min-pin mix rescued from the Los Banos shelter. She is truly smart, gentle and sweet, is a lover and big time snuggler. She is not one bit nippy and will even let you retrieve something out of her mouth, but may want to play tug of war. She is very energetic, but not hyper, and she doesn't bark at new folks when they come into the house.

Having raised her puppy alone on the street, Suzie has a strong food drive, and also a fun-to-watch habit of carefully hiding and later retrieving her treats. In spite of her dire situation out there, she is not food defensive, maybe because she got in the habit of allowing her pup to eat her food.

She is good on walks, with other dogs that she encounters and with people, good in the car, and calm when she has to be in her crate. She gets a lot of attention because she is tiny - no more than 10 lbs - and irresistibly poised and cute. When she's excited, she bunny hops on her hind legs.

Suzie has displayed some dominance with mounting postures on both male and female chihuahuas - the male didn't care and they cuddle right next to one another, as well as interact well playing and walking, but the female, who is also dominate and somewhat dog aggressive, as well as being jealously protective of her person's attention, is having trouble handling it and has been repeatedly starting fights with Suzie. Suzie is not starting the fights but she does not back down, so they need close supervision. Because of this, Suzie would probably do best in a home with less dominate or aggressive dogs.

Due to the interaction with the other female dog in the house, Suzie is being crated at night, which she accepts, but prefers a home where she can be in the bed cuddling with her people or burrowing under the covers!!
