Bella's Story...
Bella is a mixed breed dog, possibly a Basenji mix, who is just turned one year old in December 2011. Bella is a very light-bodied, long-legged but petite dog with exquisite facial features and gorgeous eyes. Very intelligent, so alert and intense...a very unique little girl. Bella is a few pounds underweight from the stress of shelter life but she is now happily tucked in at her new foster home and is eating very well. She is fully grown height-wise and will just fill out as she matures. She is 17 inches high at the shoulder and currently weighs about 30 pounds.

In her foster home Bella is enjoying playing with the family’s two other dogs and three children, ages 8 to 14. She loves to run and play in the fenced yard and loves playing games with the kids or snuggling on the sofa just as well. Bella loves sleeping in bed with the kids, too. She is going to be a very special and devoted companion for some lucky person or family! Bella is microchipped, up to date on her shots and is spayed.

If you would like to meet Bella, please call Alice at 618-719-6325 and we will answer your questions and make arrangements for a visit.

HSMC’s adoption contract guarantees that Bella will be a good fit for your family or we will happily take her back and refund the adoption fee. HSMC also promises to always be there for our animals should a family’s circumstances change and they can no longer care for their pet. Please check out our organization and give us an opportunity to work with you!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bella, a Columbia Basenji dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basenji for sale in Columbia, or seeking a Basenji dog from a breeder in Columbia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Columbia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Columbia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basenji breeders who help with Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Columbia paves the way for another one to be saved.
