My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Pepper. I am peppy and love to be active. I am looking for a forever home where it is ok or even a plus for me to be active. I would love an exercise partner. I do need a leader though. My foster mom tells me that if I don't have a confident leader, I am always trying to take charge. She tells me that is not a very endearing quality but I can't help myself. I am a born leader. I am a beautiful grown up girl so I try to make decisions for myself.

As for my looks, I am described as a medium sized (60 or so pounds) dog but I am very powerful. When I want something, I can put my whole body into getting what I want. Mom says I am a beautiful brindle girl with a mixture of black, caramel, blonde, and white colors. I have big chocolate eyes with which I will look to you for praise. I like to be told that I am a good girl so I try hard to please. I am good with cats. Sometimes I am curious as to what they are doing but I am very respectful and know my boundaries with them. I have been to doggy day care and I have an older foster brother dog. I do very well with other dogs but I prefer boy dogs as friends over girl dogs, although some girl dogs are okay. I like for all my dog friends to have a similar energy level to my own and I prefer bigger dogs over smaller ones.

I listen to my foster mom very well. She gives me kisses when I do a good job listening. She tells me I am a really good girl and someday I will find my forever person or family. I am very good about doing my business outside and I can be left alone in the house. I will share my food and water dishes with no problem at all. The cats drink my water all the time. I know how to sit and lay down. I really don't like that "stay" command, I so prefer to be with you! Please don't make me "stay". Mom leaves me for up to five hours sometimes but she will also give me Kong toys to keep me occupied when I am left home because I do prefer to be busy. I LOVE to ride in the car and I am on my best behavior for car rides. I like to either ride in the front passenger seat and look out the windshield, ride in the back seat and smell the fresh air from the window, or I can ride in a crate if you are worried about my safety. I don't mind how I ride as long as I get to ride!

I have also improved on crating. I really don't like it because like I said, I WANT TO BE WITH YOU! I love to cuddle and sleep touching my person but Mom tells me that my crate is my bedroom and I am expected to sleep in there through the night. Since Mom has me on this regular routine, I make her proud by crating at night sometimes without the crate command. She will say, "C'mon Pepper, it is bedtime" and I go right in! Mom kisses me goodnight and I go to sleep.

I really would like to find a forever home so if you think I'd fit as a member of your family, please contact Lucky Pup Rescue. I would really like a family with another K9 buddy but I could be an only dog if you have the time and energy to exercise me. I am good with children but I prefer older children that already get the hang of walking so that they can be active with me. Won't you please give me a chance to make you happy?

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**
