My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Little Emmy, who probably won't be very little for long, was found as a stray and wondered upon a friendly porch.
The home owners contacted us, took her in to the vet for a ckup and here she is - healthy and awaiting a loving forever family who can show her the love and attention she deserves.

Age: 12 weeks, Estimated date of birth: Oct 9-11
Gender: Female
Weight: 14 lbs at 12 weeks
Mix/Purebred: Possibly Purebred
Housetrained: Still working on it
Crate trained: Still learning, but making good progress
Heartworm Negative/Positive: Negative
Spayed/Neutered: Will be at time of adoption
Micro chipped: Will be at time of adoption
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes, likes to play with them
Good with children: Yes, loves all people thus far

Update 1/16/2012
She is still as sweet as ever and will warm your heart in two seconds. She is however still lacking in confidence and needs someone to socialize her to new people, new surroundings and especially other dogs on a regular basis.

She is still a puppy and so her reactiveness to other dogs is not threatening but she will need to gain confidence and be trained how to be more social so that her fear doesn't get her in trouble when she gets bigger.

She is a TOTAL sweetheart and people tend to just want to take her in their arms and give her a big hug but what she needs is someone to love her enough to give her the proper attention and time to make her emotionally healthy as well as physically. Being found as a stray might have something to do with her timidness but she is progressing in her foster home and needs a home to continue that great work well after adoption.

She will be fully vetted and ready to go to her forever home mid to late January.
End Update 1/16/2012

Emmy has so much love to give and she is so sweet that you will fall in love with her immediately. She likes to be with people but tolerates a crate too...she loves to run and play. While walking along practicing leash training she will see another person or dog and barks to say hello and wants to run over and play. She is very smart too, when she is corrected for chewing on the leash she immediately drops it. No need for a harsh tone with this love bug, she responds to a firm NO very quickly. She is timid at first meeting but only for a while, then she warms up when she realizes the people are friendly.

The family who took her in had cats and small dogs and kids- she was fine with all. She is very easy going but like all dogs especially shepherds she will need training, exercise and leadership from her owners. We will post more as we get to know her.
