My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Teddy is a an alert, bold, loyal and friendly dog. He can be a bit shy with strangers at first but warms up in moments and treats you like a long lost friend. With people he knows, he greets you with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. He is friendly with everyone and likes people of all ages. He is a medium sized dog weighing 45 lbs, is approximately 3 years old and has a lovely, easy to care for coat.

Teddy is a real character. He is always smiling, easy-going and friendly with everyone. He would do fine with another dog in the home or would do quite well as the only dog. We have not tested him with cats but believe there would be no issues as he is fairly docile in nature. He would enjoy a good walk each day and a backyard to play in would be ideal.

Here is what his foster family had to say about Ted E Bear:

Teddy loves people!! He bonds quickly and is a sweetheart!

He loves meeting new dogs and greets them in a friendly manner. He is currently being crate trained and although he doesn't like it, he easily goes in with a treat. He really doesn't need to be crated as he is totally house trained but we still crate him when we are out of the home. He's not a fan of going in the crate, but once he's in, he seems relaxed and sleeps. When he has to go out, he goes to the front door and stares at you and wags his tail. It's pretty apparent what he's asking for!

His favorite thing to do so far is sleeping at your feet, or "melting" into you when you sit on the floor. He also likes to check himself out in the mirror. He's a good looking dog! I don't blame him! He has a beautiful coat and so far is not shedding but probably will shed his coat once or twice a year.

Ted E. Bear (Bear) is quick to excite, but if you ignore him for a short time (60 seconds) he's content to lay down somewhere near you and sleep. He could do with some obedience classes or reinforcement of what he already knows. He obeys Sit, Stay, but only for a few seconds at a time. He will always "come" for some cuddling though. He's a suck! He pulls on the leash fairly constantly unless you're in an open area devoid of things that look interesting to him (so anything that sticks out of the ground, lol!) He has an energy for all things new, and quite a few things seem "new" to him. (Its cute, but tiring on the arm!) Once he's tuckered out, he behaves better, but would do well once he figures out the "heel" command. He likes to lead, but is slowly learning "humans first"

Ted E. Bear does not like getting in trouble. The moment I brought him home, he lifted a leg to mark the corner of a couch. I caught him in the act and gave him a stern "No!" and he right away rolled over and showed me his belly. He has never tried to mark "my" territory again. The same goes with anything else. He might not know what is right and wrong Initially, but is very apt at learning based on your responses. He just wants to please and be loved!

Ted E Bear doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is not food aggressive or possessive of anything. he relects the energy level of those around him and thrives on love! If you are excited, he gets very excited with you. If you are calm, watching tv he'll lay down on the floor at your feet and watch tv too. He is an active dog however so a daily walk is very important or he will become restless.

He may have lived an isolated life as many things are "new" to him. Watching him experience things (like mirrors) is hilarious. He will bond quickly to any new owner and love them unconditionally. He would thrive in an environment where he is loved and enjoyed and would make an excellent companion as well as keeping their feet warm.
