My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wanted: Loving family for a sweet young girl. Must be patient, kind, willing to help me overcome my fears, willing to socialize me, and really good at petting and giving belly rubs. Children and other dogs are optional.

About me: I was rescued from a shelter in Ohio within the last few months. All my foster mama knows for sure is that my human dad had Alzheimer’s disease and didn’t recognize me, and my human mama didn’t want me anymore, so I was taken to a shelter. No one is really sure if I was an outside dog or if my family abused me or neglected to socialize me. BREW does know that I am afraid of new situations and people, unfamiliar dogs, loud noises, and changes to my routine. When I become frightened I dash away and hide, and I shiver and shake.

Even though I get really nervous in new situations, I come around pretty quickly with patience. My foster mama says I made huge progress in only a week. I went from a scared pup that wouldn’t eat and hid under the kitchen table to a pup that begged for petting and followed my furry foster brothers and sister around. I love to snuggle and go for walks. My foster mama is amazed that she hasn’t heard me bark once though I do whimper and cry for attention. She also says that I’m mostly housebroken. I potty on a leash and I can also potty in the fenced in yard though you have to go with me because I’m still timid. I don’t know how to ask to go out either, so my new parents will have to work with me on that. I can handle a crate or run free in the house and I play nicely on my own with bones and chew toys. I’m still not sure about sharing my humans with my furry siblings even though I don’t have much choice since they were here first! I love to sleep in the bed already, so I sometimes growl at the other dogs when they try to join me. Foster mama thinks there may be a hint of an alpha dog in there, but I don’t start fights or bite. Since I’m only about 22 pounds, I have enough sense to stay away from arguments with my furry housemates.

If you are looking for a petite “snuggle bug” that will adore you, I am the pup for you.
