My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please Note: MaxFund does not permit the adoption of puppies (under 1 year) by households with children 5 and under.

Hi! My name is Nick and I came to MaxFund with my two brothers, Pip and Handsome, and my sister Reba. I am a Shar Pei mix and about 9 weeks old. I am about 12lbs, at the moment. However, get ready for me to grow! I expect to be quite large – maybe 40 or 50 lbs.

When we were about 3 or 4 weeks old we were all abandoned one night at a dog pound in southwestern Colorado. Because we were so young the staff there could not look after us and we were going to be ‘euthanized.’ I am not exactly sure what that is but it sounds bad! Lucky for us a kind person came and took us to her home. There we had a canine aunt and two canine uncles (they were really nice to us!). We also got to meet a cat (boring!) and a boy of 8 years and girl of 11 years (lots of fun!). It was nice having a young human playmate – we would all sleep together in our bed!

We are all affectionate and agree that cuddles are grrrrreat! Playing with all sorts of toys is really fun too. We are all fine with car rides and also being in a kennel (crate). Of course we have always been together so it will take us a little while to be comfortable being independent pups! We were learning to go outside and also use “piddle pads” for our bathroom area before we came to MaxFund. We are all still learning to walk on a leash. We do better in a harness and that also protects our necks from getting hurt.

I just love being with people. I am quite quiet but also vocal because I always want to be sure that you know where I am. I am getting to be quite polite and I even usually know what you mean when you say “sit.”

We are all very sweet and happy puppies but before you adopt us please remember that puppies need lots of time and attention. What happens to a dog while he or she is a puppy affects how that dog behaves as an adult.

Please consider these questions: Do you have lots of patience to housetrain us? Do you have time to take us to puppy kindergarten and obedience school so we can become confident, well-behaved grown-up dogs? Do you have time to give us supervised play and walks daily? Will you forgive “accidents” in the house? Will you forgive us mistaking your shoe, cushion or sock for one of our toys and chewing it? Lastly - but certainly not least - will you love us forever?

If the answer to these questions is a resounding “yes!” then please come and meet us! We promise we will repay all the time and attention you spend on us many fold!
