As a cell dog he worked with inmates to learn basic obedience but as well, they taught him how to use some of the exercise equipment and such and how to climb a chain link fence (which obviously was not the best idea). He has been run through an agility course and did very well! Wylie is alert and eager to please and extremely loyal. He would make a great pet for someone that would like an intelligent dog and a willing partner.
Here is what his foster mom had to say about Wylie:
Wiley is a real gem - he is a genuine dog who is loving and easy going. He adapts well to any if not all situations. He is loving with everyone and doesn't make strange with anyone. Wiley blended easily into our home life, and instantly became one of our pack! He would make an excellent family pet or singles companion. He is even okay with the cats in the home, interested but not fixated on them.
Wiley is not crated in our home as he has proven himself to be trustworthy and we have no problems leaving him for a normal working day. He does whine a bit when we first leave but soon settles and gets on with the next toy.
He loves to wrestle and cuddle the other dogs. He is a love bug in general and is ready and willing to cuddle everyone in sight! He LOVES walks and runs!! His ideal family should be one that is active and has a fenced back yard for him to play in. A second dog would be a bonus for Wiley.
Wiley knows all of his basic commands including "shake a paw" and is very obedient. He is fully house trained and learned how to use the doggie door on first try. He is very quiet and respectful in the home and rarely barks unless their is good reason. Wiley takes his time around the house just taking everything in, he never gets into anything he shouldn't and really enjoys his toys. He loves going for car rides and is very good in the car just watching out the window at the sights. He is excellent on leash and has excellent recall. Wylie has never tried to bolt out the door although we usually have a number of people coming and going at our house but he can hop up and over a chain link fence in seconds!!
Wiley has a heart of gold and always means well. He is just a very sweet, loyal boy who would work well in any situation where he is loved. I think he would very well in a home with another dog that liked to play and for companionship if you work all day. He is very respectful and understands there is a time and place to be hyper and crazy and there is also a time and place to lay down and be calm. Wiley really deserves his forever home and he needs somewhere to call his own!
