My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our representative went to an East Bay shelter to pick up one doxie and got Fritz as a bonus. This sweet four year old boy had been dumped at the shelter by his owner with no explanation. Most doxies find the shelter to be terrifying and Fritz was no exception. He was so traumatized that he failed the temperament test (no way did he trust the scary strangers who wanted to poke and prod him). This meant rescue was his only option. It's a rare dachshund that is happy and friendly inside a shelter, so we readily agree to take him.

In his foster home, Fritz has been charming. He has shown us he is a one-person dog. The other family members are OK but "his" person is the one he worships and follows around.

We think Fritz has a long hair doxie in his pedigree because rather than having a smooth, sleek coat, his hair is a little longer giving him a velour like coat. He feels just like a soft stuffed animal.
He also has an adorable red nose and lovely long ears.

Because Fritz is a young dog, he loves to go for walks and does very well on the leash. He is
living nicely with other doxies and gets along well with them, even going so far as to share
his food bowl.

If Fritz is cornered or frightened, he will nip to tell you to back off. Therefore he needs a home with older children (teens and up) or an adults only home.

Fritz’s vaccinations are all up-to-date and he’s very healthy. If you are interested Fritz, please contact Barbara at bantique03@sbcglobal.net or call (925) 325-9575. A home check and an adoption application (available at www.scdr.org) are required.

The tax deductible donation for Fritz is $200.00.
